Your Testimony

Only 8 more devotions to write! I AM SO CLOSE!!! But in the mean time I had to share this devotion I wrote today! I love when I am writing that God is teaching me so much! So good! Thank you Jesus for this lesson!!!power-of-your-testimony

Yesterday we talked about Satan being the accuser of the brethren or followers of Jesus. We also discussed that you need to remember that your sin was covered in the blood of the Jesus. The passage we talk about today is right after the verse from yesterday. This verse for the day is the perfect reminder and encourager of how to overcome the accusations of Satan:

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

– Revelation 12:11 (NIV)

The “him” that the believers triumphed over was Satan himself. The only way to have victory over the devil is by the blood of Jesus over your life and over your sins. You also have power of victory by your testimony of what God has done in your life.  Did you know that your testimony is powerful? When you speak to others about what God has done in your life it gives you strength. I remember there was a person in my life that kept telling me the same stories over and over again about what God had done for them. I wanted to stop them and let them know they had already told me that story. But the Lord stopped me and told me that it boosted their faith every time they told those stories of what Jesus had done in their life.

So not only does it strength the person that is telling the testimony but it makes those who are listening stronger as well. So many times I have heard someone tell me what God did in their life and it increases my faith and helps me to believe God in a way I didn’t before. There is a Christian speaker named Shawn Bolz that I heard one time preach about how if God does it for one person it can do it for you. That really stuck with me, so now when I hear someone tell me something amazing God did in their life I think, “If God did it for them then He can do it for me to.” I heard about a person who was given a house free of charge. That God opened the door and the owner gave their house to this person. That is when I thought, “If God did that for them then he can get me a house free of charge as well.” I have lived in two houses rent free and I am believing God for someone to give me a house for me and my family to live in since we are trusting the Lord and walking in obedience.

Don’t you see the enemy knows how powerful your testimony is so he tries to keep you quiet by saying things like, “No one wants to hear what you have to say” or “You will sound stupid if you tell that story” or “That story isn’t really exciting others have had much more exciting stories about Jesus in their life”. You know what you need to do, tell the devil to shut his mouth and you need to open your mouth because someone needs to hear what the Lord has done in your life.

Have you told others about things God has done in your life? Have you shared your testimony with people who are in your life?

Spiritual Warfare

When I first gave my life to the Lord I did not believe in Spiritual Warfare at all that included demons and angels. It wasn’t until I got to the mission field and came face to face with Spiritual attacks that I finally believed. God brought me to the book of Daniel to show me that Spiritual Warfare is real and I was in the middle of a battle

Comforting

I have been writing a devotional book and I had to share with you this particular devotion about being comforted by God and then you are able to comfort others the same way the Lord was there for you!

Day 258
Comforting Others

He (God) comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
– 2 Corinthians 1: 4 (NLT)

I love this verse so much in that first God longs to comfort us. When we are hurt, broken hearted, down, depressed, and mourning God is there to comfort us if we allow Him to. I remember being 15 and having the first guy I ever loved break up with me. I was so angry at God that I told the Lord I didn’t want anything to do with Him anymore. Months into my broken heart I was lying in bed crying when I felt these arms wrap around me. They were strong, warm, and comforting. I didn’t realize it was God who was doing it so I freaked out and started crying harder thus rejecting what the Lord was trying to do in my life. I wish I had known then the Lord was hurting with me and wanted to bring His peace and wisdom into my situation.

Years later I surrendered my life to Jesus and I have been comforted by God many many many times. He has walked me through painful situations by bringing peace and understanding. When I have come out on the other side of my pain healed and restored the Lord brings other people in my life that are going through similar situations I have faced. God nudges me to comfort them just as He did me. There was a time I didn’t understand why the Lord wouldn’t just comfort them directly himself but I began to realize that they didn’t know how to allow God to comfort them just like I didn’t get God was trying to comfort me when I was 15. After I understood this I was able to not only comfort them but point them to the Lord who wanted to help them walk out the pain or hurt they were going through.
There are things God has walked you through that were hard, hurtful, and painful. Because you had a relationship with the Lord you were able to allow him to help you heal and be comforted. Not everyone will have that because of their lack of understanding of God. There will be people that will remain broken, hurt, and disappointed if you don’t comfort them and point then back to the Lord. God wants to use you to bring healing in people’s lives.
This may sound very intimidating but all you have to do is listen to what God is telling you and walk them through just as God did for you. You don’t have to have an education in psychology to help others. Your experience is education enough to recognize where a person is at and comfort them in their time of need.

Is there someone in your life God wants you to comfort because of what you have been through? Do you make yourself available to God to use you to comfort others just as He has comforted you in your life?

Devotion: Don’t Let Your Surroundings Dictate Your Worship

Devotion: Confirmation

God will send confirmation to confirm that what he spoke over us either will happen or that we are in the right place at the right time just like he did for David when he became King. God loves confirming His message to you. He did it for me when the Lord told my husband and I to start giving groceries away once a month. If he confirmed the word He spoke over me God will confirm things for you too.
