Devotion: Facing Opposition
When you do God’s will you WILL face opposition. The people of Judah faced opposition just by saying no to a group of people. Don’t be surprised, most likely opposition will come but what are you going to do when it happens?
God’s timing is perfect and when what He has spoken over you is ready nothing will stop it. God told the people of Judah that after 70 years in exile he would bring them back to their native country. When the 70 years was up God did it in the most incredible way through a unlikely source.
Trusting in Numbers is when we trust in things or people more than God. David wanted to do a census of his fighting men instead of trusting God who had given him numerous victorious on the battle field. God longs for us to trust him over anything this world can offer and at the end of the day he is more trust worthy than anything we could put our trust in.
1 Chronicles 21
God is well known for choosing the least likely candidate to do mighty things. God picked an unlikely candidate to provide for the prophet Elijah! If the Lord did it then He can do it now! You are not unlikely candidate for God even if everyone else thinks you are!
1 Kings 17
This world can be so cruel and though we have given our lives to God doesn’t mean we are exempt from Tragedy. But what God will do is making all things work for the good of those who love Him and He can redeem any situation. Naomi knew tragedy good and well yet even before tragedy happened God had a plan to turn it into something so beautiful
God is going to ask you to do things, ON HIS TERMS, that will be humanly impossible. Why? Because He wants all the glory and for you not to take any credit for your success or victory. God asked Gideon to do the impossible. To take a tiny pitiful in number army and attack the huge Mideonite army.
When God asks us to do things it doesn’t mean everyone agree and that includes our family. It is hard not having your family on board with you let alone doing God’s will. Gideon knew what it felt like to not have his family agree with what the Lord was asking him to do. But he did it any way.
It is so much easier to trust what man says or trust in man over trusting God. It is hard but the Lord still wants us to trust in Him when he says do something. Coming from the story of Deborah and Barak, in the book of Judges.
When we Wholeheartedly Follow God it will pour out in our actions and words. The condition of your heart will reflect in your actions. Caleb was a man that wholeheartedly followed God no matter what and it showed in everything he did. God wants us to have a heart fully devoted to Him. He wants us to give him our whole heart! Where is your heart in regards to the Lord?
I have found that God isn’t usually logical or rational with things He asks us to do. For Joshua and the Israelites He asked them to walk around the wall of Jericho for 7 days to start a battle. Now that if is not Strange Orders I don’t know what is. The Lord wants to partner with you in doing things: He will give you the easy job while he takes the hard job. And the only thing you need to do is obey his orders.
