Correction, Rebuke, and Discipline are never ever fun but it is so needed. God corrects and disciplines us because He loves us and cares that we are making mistakes or bad choices and wants to help us fix them.
As the proverb goes you can be a wise woman and build up your house or a foolish woman and tear it down with your own hands. In this video I talk more about what it looks like to be a foolish woman
As the proverb says if it is within your power to act you need to not withhold goods. That could mean an employee to an employer, someone God had put on your heart, or a person that needs to borrow from you.
Like the Psalmist said God is good, God’s love endures forever and the Lord is faithful from generation to generation. In this devotion we dive a bit more into those three descriptions of God. Psalm 100
When we are in pain, sorrow, or just have a lot of why questions we can start to challenge, blame, or manipulate God. For Job it couldn’t get worse and so with his words he started to challenge the Lord. Well the Lord had some pretty hard questions for Job.
Job had everything taken away from him but on some level he knew that he needed to praise God and worship Him. Even when we don’t understand, even when we don’t know the why God is still good and worthy to be praised.
Whether good, bad, happy, sad, tragic, or triumph your immediate response should be Worship. Why, because it is so powerful and will help you in any circumstance. Job was such a great example of worshiping God immediately in his darkest hour.
The Lord is so good at turning sorrow into gladness and mourning into joy. He did that when the Jews were going to be annihilated and the Lord turned it around to where they could defend themselves and save their family.
When you do something so right or say something on point but you don’t get promoted, praise, or recognized like you should. Just know that God is in control and delaying it for the right time. Mordecai saved the king from assassination but didn’t get recognized for a while after it happened. But when He did it literally saved his life.
It’s not enough for us to know what is in the Bible (though we should) we need to understand it’s meaning. After Nehemiah and the Jews completed the wall they had a time of rejoicing with a feast and reading the book of the law. But the leaders didn’t just read it they explained the meaning as well.
